Shackleton's Cross
Saturday 25 June is the day when all Herefordshire is invited to Ledbury to commemorate the centenary of WW1 events in 1916. In the evening at 7.30, Jennifer Bate and Crispian Steele-Perkins will most generously give a wonderful concert of solemn, patriotic, soul-stirring and rousing music by Handel, Telemann, Stradella, Guilmant, Mozart, Elgar, Purcell, Goodall and Mathias. Jennifer and Crispian are, respectively, internationally renowned organ and trumpet soloist superstars. An award-winning choir from John Masefield High School will perform WW1 themed songs. There will be some short, vivid, evocative readings about Jutland and The Somme.
