A Winter's Tale wins award
The first professional production of A Winter’s Tale has just won the 2012 Off West End Theatre (the ‘Offie’) award for Best New Musical. Staged at the Landor Theatre in London at the end of 2012, to critical acclaim, it is the only production to be nominated in the category, so despite the awards not being announced officially until February, its uncontested nomination means it has already been confirmed as the winner of this category of the Offies. The announcement of the award sparked a flurry of congratulatory posts on twitter from the cast, production company and those who had (or wished they had) seen the short run of the musical.
